USTP Concludes R&D Learning Sessions 2025 with Focus on Energy Policy & Academic-Industry Collaboration

The final session of the R&D Learning Sessions 2025 brought together faculty, researchers, and innovation partners to explore energy policy frameworks and strategies to strengthen academic-industry collaboration.

Spearheading the session was Dr. Neil Lopez, an RD Leader under the RDLead Program of DOST–NRCP. Dr. Lopez, an esteemed expert in electric mobility, renewable energy systems, and research project management, guided participants through key insights and approaches to advance research and innovation partnerships.

This milestone event was made possible through the partnership of the USTP Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension (VPRI) and the CDObites Office, an initiative championed by Dr. Franch Maverick Lorilla, Director for Innovation.

Uniting Minds, Advancing Research

In line with its commitment to foster collaboration, USTP also convened a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Research Center Heads and Directors. Held at the Chancellor’s Conference Room, 5th Floor, Building 43, USTP Cagayan de Oro, this dialogue served as a platform for research leaders across the USTP System to exchange perspectives on shared challenges, research priorities, and collaborative opportunities.

The discussion underscored the importance of alignment, synergy, and sustained institutional support in nurturing a more cohesive and dynamic research environment.

A Shared Vision for Innovation

Both the FGD and the learning session were organized under the RDLead Program of DOST–NRCP, with strong coordination from the VPRI Office and the CDObites Office. The initiative, led by Dr. Lorilla, reflects USTP’s commitment to driving purposeful innovation through partnerships, collaboration, and forward-looking strategies.

With these efforts, USTP continues to solidify its role as a leading hub for research, innovation, and transformative change in the region.
